| Friendly Visiting volunteers visit on a one-to-one basis in the homes of seniors and adults with disabilities -wherever there is a need. Visiting times are flexible and can be done on weekends as well. |
SCOPE is a job registry for East York adolescents which matches them with people who need help with snow shovelling, cutting grass, shopping, errands and other odd jobs. | |
Caring and skilled Community Care Workers provide help with bathing, grooming, dressing, mobility, meal preparation, laundry, cleaning, escorts and monitoring safety. | |
This intergenerational program, run in co-operation with the Board of Education, has caring senior volunteers, called "Grandpersons", who share their creative skills and hobbies with small groups of children in grades 4 and 5 in East York elementary schools. | |
Clinics Nursing foot clinics are offered at a variety of sites. A chiropody foot clinic is offered through our Senior Centre. A blood pressure clinic is held once a month at our Senior Centre. In-home foot care is available. | |
O'Connor House is a "seniors' family home" for ten frail, elderly persons who are experiencing difficulty coping with the activities of daily living. The residents are able to maintain their individual lifestyles in a warm and friendly environment. Features of the house include private bedrooms, meals, bath supervision (if necessary), access to a house doctor. Monthly charges can be subsidized | |

Community Care Workers provide in-home relief, along with personal care and housekeeping chores, which allows caregivers to have a break and relieves some of their stress. Exciting opportunities and activities are available for older adults such as bridge, carpet bowling, crafts, fitness, Monday Lunch Bunch, painting, quilting, tai chi, wood carving, a men's group and a monthly Diner's Club. | |
Caring and experienced counsellors can help frail seniors, adults with dementia and other disabilities to live as independently and safely as possible and to enhance their quality of life. | |
The Supportive Housing Program enables tenants of three Metropolitan Toronto Housing Company buildings in East York to remain safely and comfortably in their homes by receiving housekeeping and personal care. The service is available on site, 24 hours a day, on both a scheduled and emergency basis, and is provided by trained, caring and flexible Community Care Workers. | |
The Transportation program can help seniors or adults with a disability that have difficulty using public transportation. The Transportation Coordinator arranges rides for medical appointments, shopping and social activities. We offer door-to-door personalized service. | |
Entertaining and informative activities and outings are offered each month and include tours and exhibitions, musical performances, plays and day trips to out-of-town points of interest. A monthly calendar is mailed to members. |
