Meet Our Board of Directors

Chair

Susan Tremblay
has been engaged in the health services sector for over 30 years with work spanning the university and academic community, research organizations, policy groups, hospital and community health sector, professional regulatory bodies and membership organizations.  She has been a planning consultant in the academic and health services sector for the last ten years.  Her community involvement has spanned board roles at Flemingdon Health Centre, the Toronto Western Hospital Family Health Team, the Ontario College of Pharmacists and several professional associations.  She is also a volunteer with Eva’s Initiatives, an agency serving at-risk and homeless youth.  


Vice-Chair

Eileen Ryan has over 40 years of experience in nursing and healthcare administration. She has worked in hospitals, in the community and at the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.  In 2006, she retired from East York Access Centre.  Eileen has served on several community boards such as Sprint and the People With Aids Foundation. In addition to her senior volunteer role at CCEY, she serves on the True Davidson Home Advisory Committee and MPP Kathleen Wynne’s Seniors Advisory Committee.



Treasurer

Barbara Baca
is a Chartered Accountant with a Masters degree in Health Science, Health Administration from the University of Toronto.  She works in the corporate finance division of the Bank of Montreal.  Prior roles include the Ministry of Health’s Y2K Project Financial Co-coordinator, Etobicoke General Hospital’s Director of Finance and the Manager of Financial Services for the Orthopedic and Arthritic Hospital.  Barbara was also an auditor with Coopers & Lybrand with clients in various industries such as manufacturing, not-for-profit and healthcare.  She joined the CCEY board in January 2008, and became Treasurer in June 2008.


Secretary

Sarah Downey
is a senior health care executive with more than 15 years experience leading planning and operations in several hospitals in Ontario.  She is Vice President of Princess Margaret Hospital at the University Health Network.  Princess Margaret Hospital is Canada’s largest comprehensive cancer centre.  Sarah has a Masters of Health Administration from the University of Ottawa and is a Certified Health Executive.  She lives with her husband and two children in east Toronto.


Directors


Helen Berezansky, CHRP, SHRP is a Director of Human Resources with extensive experience in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.  She has a diverse background with over ten years of experience in the health care field in East York and with the Ontario government. Formerly, Helen was a Director of Human Resources in the private sector. Helen attended York University where she majored in psychology. She has served on boards of directors and various senior committees and community task forces. Helen lives in Toronto with her husband, Uppy.

Brian Cass Q.C. is a retired lawyer who has held leadership roles in the not-for-profit sector and community for several years. He has served as the Chair of the Finance Committee at both a hospital in the GTA and a college at University of Toronto. Previously, he held senior volunteer roles in the Boy Scouts, minor sports and a church in the community. Brian worked in financial services and for a number of years served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Ontario’s Ministry of Financial Institutions. Brian is a graduate of Queen’s University Law School, and received a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Anette Chawla is the Executive Director of the North York Harvest Food Bank.  Previously she held a similar position with the Ontario Literacy Coalition.  Skilled in strategic planning, board governance, fundraising and finance, she also has experience as a commercial lawyer.  Anette holds a joint degree in Law and Master of Business Administration from Osgoode Hall Law School and Schulich School of Business, York University.

Doris Ditner is a project management professional with over 20 years of experience in IT and project management.  She owns and operates a small business specializing in IT project management and strategy with clients in retail, food service, property management, distribution and government. Prior to starting her own business, she was a Director of IT for a computer distribution company.  She holds a BMath from University of Waterloo and an MBA from the University of Toronto.  Her community involvement includes volunteering with recreational teams and organizing events for not-for-profit agencies.

Chris Istanbul is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Specialist Degree in Political Science and Economics.  Since 1984, Chris has been employed with several corporations in senior roles involving marketing, sales management and consultation.  In his leisure time, Chris enjoys hiking, gardening, contributing his time toward charitable causes and spending quality time with his family.  An eternal optimist, Chris resides in North Toronto with his wife Annie and teenage daughter Tamar.

Ron Luciano is a Management Consultant with over 40 years of successful experience in the Voluntary sector as a CEO,  Volunteer Board Member and Organizational Development Consultant.He has served as Chair of Boards as diverse as Hospitals, The United Way (local and national), the Health Innovation Fund, Children's Charities, International Social Welfare and is active in the Rotary movement,His consulting practice has been in Strategic Planning, Executive Compensation, Business  Development and in the capital/operations fund raising programs. He has taught at the Community College, University undergraduateand Graduate programs  in both the Business and Social Work divisions. Ron's academic background includes undergrad work at Concordia (Montreal) and an MS (Organizational Behaviour) at G Williams (Chicago).

Dianne Neale is currently a Human Resources Manager with Atlantic Packaging Products in Toronto.  A Human Resources professional for over twenty-five years,  she has worked in Toronto with Canada Post, Bombardier and St. Michaels Hospital.  Dianne owned her own café on the Danforth and is very active in her community.  She has helped organize the ever-popular Roseheath annual street festival charity event over the last ten years.  She lives with her husband and 2 of her 3 children and a dog in the east end of Toronto.
